Among rookies Wemby finished with an average of 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.6 blocks, 3.9 assists and 1.2 thefts (second in this statistic). He became the second rookie to lead NBA players in blocks per game in a season after Manute Bol (1985/86).
Not only that, Wembanyama is the first French player to win rookie of the year since its first delivery in the 1952/53 season. It also became just the Spur’s third players in getting it after David Robinson (1989/90) and Tim Duncan (1997/98).
