MIAMI — Corey Seager had two singles and a double to extend his hitting streak to 14 games in the Texas Rangers’ 7-0 shutout of the Miami Marlins on Saturday.
The star shortstop, who is also in the midst of a 24-game on-base streak, is 51-19 in this period that began March 14.
Marcus Semien also had two singles and a double, while Robbie Grossman had a double and a single for the Rangers, who finished with 13 hits despite 16 strikeouts.
Michael Lorenzen (3-3) pitched 6 1/3 innings for his first win since April 21. The right-hander allowed five hits and walked two.
Marlins starter Ryan Weathers struck out a team-high 11 in six innings. Weathers (3-5) allowed four runs and nine hits.
José Leclerc, Jacob Latz and Gerson Garabito relieved Lorenzen to get the last eight outs and complete the shutout.
For the Rangers, Cuban Adolis García was 0-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI. Dominican Leody Taveras 3-0.
For the Marlins, the Dominicans Bryan De La Cruz 3-1, Jesús Sánchez 4-1, Otto López 3-1.
