River Plate closed the Apertura with a tie in stoppage time against Racing

River Plate achieved an agonizing 3-3 draw against Racing at Parque Saroldi on matchday 15 of the Apertura Tournament of the Uruguayan Championship.

La Escuelita had taken a 3-0 lead with goals from Tomás Verón Lupi (17′), Lucas Rodríguez (42′) and Dylan Nandin (48′). The outlook was more than encouraging for those led by Eduardo Espinel, who dominated the actions and seemed to have the result assured.

However, the homeowner began the comeback in the 63rd minute through Ramiro Cristóbal with a shot from inside the area. Despite this, River’s attack only had its second blow in the 91st minute, when Nicolás Campos resolved well in the area and made it 2-3.

In that context, the end of the game was a roller coaster of emotions. Racing managed to score the 4-2 with which it would have ended the match, had it not been for the VAR intervening to annul said goal in the 97th minute due to offside. The discounts were extended and in the last play of the match, Horacio Salaberry finished from the door of the area and made the final 3-3, which unleashed the madness of the fans of the Prado team.

In this way, River finished the Apertura with 14 points, while Racing closed its participation with 19 units in the top half of the table.
