BOSTON — Max Fried struck out a career-high 13 batters in seven strong innings, Ozzie Albies hit the tiebreaking three-run homer and the Atlanta Braves beat the Boston Red Sox 8-3 on Tuesday.

Venezuelan Orlando Arcia added a solo in the seventh for the Braves, who improved to 3-0 this season against Boston.

Fried (6-2) allowed three runs — two earned — on four hits, while going at least seven innings for the sixth time in eight starts.

He improved his previous mark of 11 strikeouts, which he achieved twice, the most recent on September 30, 2019 against the Chicago White Sox.

Freid struck out every batter he faced in the first and did not receive a hit until Dominic Smith’s home run in the third that brought Boston within 2-1. Two R’s in the first inning by first baseman Smith helped Atlanta take the lead in the first.

For the Braves, Dominican Marcell Ozuna was 1-for-3 with one run scored. Venezuelan Orlando Arcia went 4-2 with one run scored and one RBI.

For the Red Sox, Dominican Rafael Devers was 1 for 4 with one run scored.
