Ferrari, to Canada with the “same enthusiasm” as after Sainz’s victory

The 2024 Formula 1 season continues its course and makes a stop on the way of its European tour to travel to America for the Canadian Grand Prix. On a very special track due to its combination of long straights with chicanes and walls just centimeters awayall teams want to leave the job done before jumping into action, and Ferrari is no exception.

Those from Maranello go to the Gilles-Villeneuve Circuit after Charles Leclerc’s victory in the streets of the Principality, and the director of the Italians, Fred Vasseurassured that they have the same feeling as when they won with Carlos Sainz in Melbourne: “At the beginning of this season, we went to Japan excited after Carlos’ victory in Australia and now we have the same feeling in Canada after Charles’ triumph in his racing career. home, in Monaco”.

“Everyone is excited and fully prepared for this grand prix. The Montreal track is very different from the Principality track, although there are still some slow corners, but overall it is much faster, requires less downforce and there are more opportunities to advance,” he commented. “That doesn’t mean our approach to the weekend will change at all.”

“We are moving in the right direction on the technical front, in our strategic decisions from the pit wall and in terms of how the team is working as one,” said Fred Vasseur. “Thanks to a lot of hard work, we have managed to further reduce the gap with the team that leads both championships, but the gaps between us, McLaren and Red Bull are very close, so the smallest detail can make a difference.”

For his part, the Monegasque engineer, Bryan Bozziexplained what must be done to have a fast car in the Canadian Grand Prix: “Montreal has long straights followed by combinations of medium and slow corners. To be competitive you need good straight line speed, excellent deceleration in the braking zone and good traction when exiting corners.

“As for the drivers, they need to have a lot of confidence in braking to be precise when turning into corners and then be able to accelerate as quickly as possible on the exit,” he said. “Here, as in all urban circuits, it is important to do many laps in free practice to gain confidence when passing between the walls, which can surprise you.”
