ARLINGTON — Marcus Semien counterattacked with a two-run homer after a ball was thrown at his head, Cuban Adolis García stole home and the Texas Rangers avoided a sweep with a 7-2 victory Sunday against the San Francisco Giants, manager Bruce Bochy’s former team.

Giants starter Keaton Winn’s first pitch was a 94.5 mph fastball that hit Semien’s helmet. The player was not injured and eventually scored, coming up to bat in the second inning he hit a home run after an 86.4-mile cutback to give Texas a 5-0 lead.

Nathan Eovaldi (3-2) had a seven-inning outing, his longest with Texas since April 3. The right-hander, who missed most of May with a groin strain, struck out five, walked one and allowed two runs on five hits.

Mike Yastrzemski hit a home run for the Giants (32-34), who won the first two games of the series against the manager who led them to win three titles between 2010 and 2014.

For the Giants, the Venezuelans Wilmer Flores 4-0, Thairo Estrada 4-1.

For the Rangers, Cuban García 1-for-4 with one run scored. The Dominicans Ezequiel Durán 4-1 with two RBIs, Leody Taveras 3-0
