On June 18, 1946, the Los Millonarios Sports Club was born in Bogotá. 78 years later and under the name of Millonarios Fútbol Club, the blue fans have used this day to celebrate their love for the blue team and thank Alfonso Senior for the founding of one of the largest institutions in the country.
Over the last few years, the blue fans have celebrated each of the club’s anniversaries in different ways, from marches through the main streets of Bogotá, to friendly matches between the bars at the Nemesio Camacho El Campín Stadium. They have even lit the Colpatria Towers on two occasions and during the pandemic they held a virtual event.
Although the birthday is next Tuesday, this Friday, June 14, the different traditional and popular bars of Millonarios have prepared an unprecedented event in the city of Bogotá – the event is organized by the team’s fans and is not an official celebration carried out by the institution -. This is ‘The Ambassador Night’, a concert with multiple artists and activations that will take place from 6:00 pm at the Royal Center.
For the first time in Bogotá, the Argentine quartet, rock and ska band, Kapanga, will perform. Likewise, cumbia villera groups such as Repiola, Altos Cumbieros and Los Varriletes, who are already in the country, will perform. Radcode and Sonido Sudaka will also be present at the celebration.
No marches authorized for June 18
The District Commission for Safety, Comfort and Coexistence for Football of the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá did not authorize any type of march or mobilization for next Tuesday, June 18. Nevertheless, AS Colombia Newspaper was able to learn that efforts are already being made to be able to do so in 2025 in commemoration of the 79 years of the Ambassadors.

Millonarios postpones its return to preseason
