BALTIMORE — Colton Cowser hit a tiebreaking two-run homer in the eighth inning and the Baltimore Orioles won their sixth straight game, beating the Atlanta Braves 4-2 on Wednesday.

Cade Povich pitched six scoreless innings during his second major league outing for Baltimore, but Atlanta tied the game in the eighth inning, when Matt Olson hit a two-run homer off Keegan Akin (2-0).

Cowser responded with a shot between right and center field against Puerto Rican Joe Jiménez (1-2). The ball went over the wall despite the impressive jump of center fielder Michael Harris II.

Craig Kimbrel perfectly resolved the ninth inning against the franchise with which he is most remembered. He thus achieved his 16th save in 19 opportunities.

Atlanta had not had five losses since 2017, the last year in which the Braves did not win the National League East Division. They began Wednesday 10 games behind division-leading Philadelphia.

For the Braves, Dominican Marcell Ozuna is 4-2. Venezuelan Orlando Arcia 4-0.

For the Orioles, Venezuelan Anthony Santander is 4-1. Mexican Ramón Urías 4-1. Dominican Jorge Mateo 3-1.
