Sad news shook Lanus this Thursday. Minutes before the game beat Racing by 2 to 0 it was known that Armando Oscar “La Urraca” González had died. The historic maroon defender was 56 years old. Last Tuesday he had suffered a stroke and remained hospitalized Monte Grande Bicentennial Hospital.

“La Urraca” suffered severe bleeding and did not regain consciousness after undergoing surgery. It was for this that doctors diagnosed him with brain death. In September 2012 I had already been in a coma for a similar paintingalthough he had managed to recover.

The official Lanús account said goodbye to the former player with a heartfelt message. “Deep pain: Club Atlético Lanús regrets the death of Armando Oscar ‘Urraca’ González, fan, player, great captain and idol of the institution. The defender had emerged from the club’s lower divisions from the south of Buenos Aires and debuted as a professional in the 1988/89 seasonwhen the garnet was playing in the Primera B Nacional.
