Germán Corengia ceased to be Sports Director of Barcelona Sporting Club. The idol confirmed the end of the contractual relationship with the Argentine coach who arrived to restructure the teaching methodologies in the training divisions, but who also led the first team in a Copa Libertadores match.
On April 20, after the departure of coach Diego López, Corengia was named interim coach for the Libertadores match against Sao Paulo in Guayaquil: the result was 2-0 with the visiting team winning.
He did not coach again because he also declared that the players did not follow his instructions. He resumed his position as Sports Director until this Friday, June 14.
The Argentine has a long history as a strategist. He has directed Sacachispas, Acassuso, Los Andes (Argentina), Deportes Concepción, Lota Schwager, Curicó Unidos, Unión San Felipe, Coquimbo Unidos (Chile), Rampla Juniors (Uruguay) and Cuniburo (Ecuador).
In addition, Corengia was part of Gustavo Quinteros’ coaching staff in the Ecuadorian National Team.
