Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were protagonists, during the Laver Cup 2022, from one of the most iconic photos that tennis has. The thing is, during the tribute that was paid to the Swiss for his retirement from the tournament, he burst into tears with the Spaniard and they were captured by photographers holding hands.

Regarding that photo, His Majesty spoke with the newspaper The country from Spain and revealed: “I have it at home, framed, in a space where I have some images of my career. I don’t want photos everywhere, so I have them in a specific area. And when I walk past it it always catches my attention because it reflects our camaraderie, our friendship and also the rivalry, all in one image.”

Later, she concluded by revealing details of why she made that decision to take him by the hand: “It is a moment in which we are both able to reflect on everything we have just experienced, remembering our career and how lucky we have been to be tennis players, to have been able to turn our hobby into a dream profession. That is what it means. For me, that photo was a great, short moment, holding his hand for a second, and basically showing him my gratitude through that touch.”
