Copa América announces referee appointments for the debut of Mexico and Argentina | TUDN Copa America

Conmebol announced the referee appointments who will be in charge of calling the first four matches of the Copa América 2024, among which the debuts of the Mexico national team and Argentina.

The first four games of the Group Stage are Argentina vs. Canada, Peru vs. Chile, Mexico vs. Jamaica and Ecuador vs. Venezuela.

For the opening match at the Mercedes Benz in Atlanta, GA, between the Albiceleste and the ‘La Hoja de Maple’ team, the central referee will be the Venezuelan Jesús Valenzuela. The assistant referees, also Venezuelans, are Jorge Urrego and Lubin Torrealba.

Jamie Lozano’s El Tri debut against the always dangerous Jamaica will be in the hands of American referee Ismaiel Elfath.

Peru against Chile will be supervised by referee Wilton Sampaio, from Brazil. It should be noted that the entire refereeing team for this match will be of Brazilian nationality. Finally, Ecuador vs. Venezuela will be in charge of the Colombian Wilmar Roldán.

Calls for Group A of Copa América

Group A of the Copa América will start the tournament on June 20 with the current champion, Argentina, against the Canadian team at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, in the city of Atlanta (Georgia).
