ARLINGTON, Texas — Leody Taveras broke the tie with a two-run homer in the seventh inning, and the Texas Rangers, who did not have a hit until the sixth, beat the Texas Rangers 5-3 on Wednesday. New York Mets, to end their seven-game winning streak.

Taveras did not even start the game, after a bad streak with the wood. He came on as a substitute in center field in the top of the seventh inning.

He had hit just five hits in 59 at-bats (.085) during his last 18 games, until he hit his home run between right and center field off reliever Drew Smith (1-1).

For the Mets, Puerto Rican Francisco Lindor 4-1. Dominican Starling Marte went 1 for 4 with an RBI. Venezuelan Francisco Álvarez 4-1. Cuban Raisel Iglesias 2-0.
