Of the 41 goals that Enner Valencia has with the Ecuadorian National Team, five have been scored in the Copa América, the tournament that wants to win it in 2024.
The forward has 9 official matches in the most important national team tournament on continents. In Chile 2015was in the 2-0 defeats against Chile and 3-2 against Bolívia, and one of his goals was important for the 2-1 victory against Mexico.
In this tournament, he also scored a goal against Bolivia, but could not avoid the painful fall and elimination in the first phase.
In the Copa América Centenario in 2016, he scored two more goals: in the 2-2 with Peru and in the 4-0 against Haiti. In this match, Antonio Valencia, Jaime Ayoví and Miller Bolaños also scored. Ecuador was eliminated at the end of the group stage after losing 2-1 to the United States.
Brazil hosted the 2019 Copa América, where the Tricolor was soon removed. They lost 4-0 against Uruguay, 2-1 against Chile and tied 1-1 with Japan. Enner Valencia scored a goal for the Chilean team in this tournament.
On Saturday, Ecuador debuts against Venezuela for the 2024 Copa América where Énner Valencia hopes to increase the number of historical scorers for the Tricolor.
