LaLiga improves its records. The competition chaired by Javier Tebas has increased its income by 7.9% in the 2022-2023 season, exceeding 3.5 billion euros, according to the report Annual Review of Football Financeprepared by Deloitte.

The improvement in LaLiga’s business volume occurred despite “the drop in income of Spanish clubs due to broadcasts, which registered a decrease of 8%,” explains the consultancy. This decrease in the sale of rights to broadcasting is due to “the limited presence of LaLiga clubs in the final stages of the Champions League”.

However, this cut in audiovisual income was offset by the increase in billing per match, which grew 32% compared to the previous seasonand commercial income, with an increase of 29%.

For its part, Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona each exceeded 800 million euros in revenue. Both clubs based part of their strength on the growth in the generation of commercial income, with an increase of 45%, reaching 128 million euros by the team chaired by Florentino Pérez, and an increase of 27% by the Blaugrana club. , up to 85 million euros.

LaLiga remained behind the Premier League in revenue, which reached almost 7,000 million

The Premier League was, once again, the European league with the highest incomeregistering 6,967 million euros, 8.1% more than in 2021-2022), “due to the new television rights, which increased the income of English clubs by 11% on average,” explains Deloitte.

The two leagues of big five that experienced the greatest growth were the Bundesliga and Serie A. The German competition exceeded 3,835 million euros in revenue, an increase of 22% compared to the previous season, while the Italian competition did the same, reaching 2,856 million euros in income with a growth also of 22% compared to the 2021-2022 season.

At European level, football recorded notable growth in the 2022-2023 season “thanks, in part, to the end of Covid-19 restrictions,” the report highlights. European football grew by 16%, until reach 35.3 billion euros in turnover. All of this, despite the stoppage of domestic and European competitions that occurred between the months of November and December due to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
