PHOENIX — Zack Gelof hit a key triple in a three-run attack during the eighth inning and the Oakland Athletics snapped a five-game losing streak by beating the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-4 on Friday.

The A’s stopped a streak of 11 consecutive losses on the road. They had not won in another’s park since June 1, when they visited Atlanta.

Overall, they had lost 15 of 18 matches.

Tyler Soderstrom homered off Ryan Thompson (3-3) leading off the eighth inning to tie the game at 4-4. Thompson then walked rookie Armando Alvarez before Galof lined a shot to right-center to drive in the go-ahead run.

Max Schuermann followed with a single that sent the ball over the head of Dominican shortstop Geraldo Perdomo, to make the game 6-4.

The A’s hit three homers in the ninth inning off Brandon Hughes to put the game away.

Scott Alexander (1-2) gave up a tiebreaking single to Ketel Marte in the seventh inning. He still earned the win.

For the Athletics, Dominican Miguel Andújar was 0-for-4 with one run scored.

For the Diamondbacks, Dominicans Marte went 2-for-5 with one run scored and one RBI, Perdomo went 0-for-3. Cuban Lourdes Gurriel went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Venezuelans Eugenio Suárez went 1-for-3 and José Herrera went 0-for-1.
