The Colombian brushed against Alexander Dunne and ended up uncontrolled against the wall. Matías Zagazeta was 17th and Nikola Tsolov took the victory in the sprint race.

There were just three laps left before the end of the sprint race in Austria, the sixth round of Formula 3. Sebastián Montoya had been stuck in fifth place for 18 laps, behind the Irishman Alexander Dunne. He had made several attempts to overtake, but the European had defended himself perfectly. Until the Colombian made a daring manoeuvre and ended up with his Campos team car destroyed.

Montoya went off the outside on the short straight leading into turn four at the Red Bull Ring, after the vibrations of the previous variants. Dunne closed the door on him a little, the Colombian stepped onto the grass and when he returned to the track he went straight into his rival’s car. The collision was inevitable and everything went out of control, because Juan Pablo’s son went into a spin and went straight into the inside wall. The dangerous thing was that, in the rebound, he crossed the entire track and his machine, destroyed, ended up on the ideal trajectory. Luckily, everyone avoided him.

The Colombian got out of the car alone and that quickly brought peace of mind. Montoya lost a great chance to score good points in a tournament that has him in distant 17th place with 12 points, 72 behind the leader Leonardo Fornaroli, a very meager harvest for a driver who is in his second season in Formula 3 and should make a difference against the many rookies out there. This Sunday, the Campos Racing driver will start eighth in the long competition and will have another chance.

While, The Peruvian Matías Zagazeta advanced two places with respect to his starting place and was 17th with the Jenzer team car. Bulgarian Nikola Tsolov took the win.
