the clock of a unique race in history

The 111th edition of the Tour de France will not be just any one. For the first time in the history of the French round, the final stage will not be held in the streets of Paris. The celebration of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in the French capital has caused Nice to be the city that hosts the last kilometers of the Tour de France, a circumstance as unusual as it is probably unrepeatable.

As the official timekeeper of the race, Swiss brand Tissot presents a new addition to its range of special sports editions: the PR100 Tour de France, a watch with an elegant design and minimalist aesthetic that reflects the passion of fans for one of the world’s greatest sporting events.

Inspired by cycling heroes

To create this special edition, Tissot has taken as a basis a best-seller of the brand, the PR100, born in the early 80s and whose nomenclature refers to three qualities: precise (“P”), robust (“R”) and Hermetic up to 100 meters deep.

This Tissot PR100 Tour de France features a 40mm diameter case made from 316L stainless steel. The dial features an asphalt black that reflects the road beneath the cyclists’ wheels, while the second hand is in the iconic yellow colour of the Tour de France, cleverly shaped like a bicycle. The chronograph hands are similarly coloured, to complement the second hand, while the small seconds hand matches the stainless steel case. In this way, it differentiates the coloured cycling-related timekeeping elements from the standard time in metal. The black disc of the date window adds an elegant touch, in keeping with the overall aesthetic of the watch.

Inside, a G10.212 quartz chronograph movement ticks away, and low-light visibility is ensured by the Super-LumiNova coating on the hands. The case back of the new PR100 is engraved with the Tour de France logo. It is available with a three-link metal bracelet with a butterfly clasp and a black ‘bi-material’ secondary strap that echoes the texture of bicycle handlebar grips and features the colours of the Tour de France. Its price is €495.
