New Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 leak reveals tentative release window and Geekbench performance

More information about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 has started to arrive via Digital Chat Station on Weibo. The leaker claims that the SoC launch is scheduled for mid-October, which agrees with Qualcomm’s Teaser. This tacitly tells us that the Xiaomi 15 series, the first smartphones to use silicon, could arrive sooner than usual, at least in China.

The information comes after a leaked Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 benchmark engineering sample confirmed its CPU core layout, although its performance left much to be desired. However, the aforementioned sample did not work at full speed. Its two performance cores can operate at up to 4.0 GHz, resulting in a single-core Geekbench 6 score of ~2,700—not nearly enough to beat Apple silicon, but impressive nonetheless. .

Similarly, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 can potentially score 10,000 points in the benchmark’s multi-core test. While that’s enough to defeat anything Apple offers, it could face stiff competition from the MediaTek Dimensity 9400, which is rumored to double the all-core layout of its predecessor. Then there is the Samsung 3GAP-made Exynos 2500 that you also have to worry about.
