It seems that the last big update that Redfall had, in which they included the expected 60 fps for Xbox Series X, will be precisely that, the last. In a whole year, Arkane Austin has not managed to bring out new content for a game that should have had it in abundance from the first hour to ensure its survival. But today Matt Booty has announced the closure of the studio along with Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog Games and Roundhouse Studios.

So we have to say goodbye definitively to the hopes that Redfall would rise from the ashes one day, as happened with other titles like No Man’s Sky or Cyberpunk 2077, for example. Although comparisons are odious, Arkane Austin’s work has been questioned since its releasewhich was not only an absolute disaster, but also showed a game that still had a long time to develop.

The servers will remain open for anyone who wants to continue playing

The studio itself has taken only a few minutes to officially communicate it from Twitter, in which with a simple image and black background, they notify not only of the closure of Arkane Austin, but also of the cessation of the development of Redfall, compensation to players who own the Bite Back Edition or the Hero Pass (which included two new heroes) and that, for now, the servers will remain open for whoever wants to continue playing.

The Redfall thing should have caused Arkane Austin to close sooner, but they’ve had a whole year to get back on track and honestly, I don’t know why they haven’t managed to do it. Of course, no one can say they didn’t see it coming. Now we will have to see how they compensate the players who spent 99 brand new dollars on the complete edition of the game and have received nothing in return.
