It seems that bad news never comes alonebecause if yesterday it was confirmed that Microsoft has made the decision to close four studios (Arkane Austin, Tango Gameworks, Roundhouse Studios LLC and Alpha Dog Games), now some really negative information has just come out about one of its most exciting projects, now that both Jeff Grubb of Giant Bomb and the renowned insider Shinobi602 assure that the new Perfect Dark is in trouble.
After the restart of the project, Grubb explains that he has heard on more than one occasion that things are “difficult” for him to move forward, words seconded by Alex Donaldson of VG247. More discouraging if possible is what the popular video game historian says Liam Robertson, who defines development as “a prolonged disaster” over time.
The new Perfect Dark was announced in 2020 and today absolutely nothing is known about it, since there is no estimate on its release date nor is there any indication that it will be shown soon. In fact, some members of The Initative revealed just a year ago that the studio was not clear at all about the type of game they should make and that, for obvious reasons, they had barely made any progress in development over the last three years. Nintendo 64’s Perfect Dark is available on Xbox
It is one of the best FPS in history and at the time it stood as one of the strongholds of the Nintendo 64 catalog. A title that 24 years after its launch is still valid and that, luckily, It is currently available digitally for Xbox consoles, since Rare released a very interesting HD remastering.
