Nintendo has announced the end of its compatibility with via the ‘Friend Suggestions’ feature.
The Japanese firm would thus follow other video game companies such as Xbox and PlayStation, which last year made the decision to disconnect the platform owned by Elon Musk from its service. In this way, the Xbox consoles stopped offering the social network in April and the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 a few months later, in November.
Nintendo has now confirmed the date on which it will stop supporting X, which will be next June 10, a discontinuation that will apply to the entire Nintendo Switch family, including the Lite and OLED models.
From then on, users will no longer be able to post screenshots and videos to it from the Nintendo Switch Album. This was announced by the firm in a statement, where it indicated that, although the publication of this content on Facebook will continue to be enabled, “it is possible that this service will also be suspended at a later date.”
The video game developer has also indicated that the function to send friend requests to other social network users through the ‘Friend Suggestions’ menu – available in the My Page section of the Nintendo Switch Home – will also be discontinued.
However, it has clarified that the friend suggestion functionality can continue to be used from other smart devices, as well as on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U platforms.
