Blizzard will remove the PvE mode from Overwatch 2 that it introduced just three months ago

Blizzard is removing the PvE Hero Mastery Gauntlet mode from Overwatch 2, just three months after its release.

The North American company has admitted that the new mode “has not resonated with players”, which has caused it to become unavailable starting with Season 11, which begins on June 18.

Overwatch fans have, therefore, until then to finish completing the different Lifetime Challenges of the mode and compete to enter the table of the 500 best players.

The official forums explain that “as we prepare for Season 11, we have taken some time to evaluate the different game modes based on how much they are being played.”

“Hero Mastery Gauntlet was intended to bring the excitement of chasing high scores to a multiplayer format. Unfortunately, it hasn’t resonated with players the way we’d hoped.”

Individual Hero Mastery Solo Courses will, in any case, continue to be available, and new ones are expected in the coming seasons.

Overwatch 2’s PvE is proving to be a headache for Blizzard. Hero Mode was canceled last year, when the company admitted it had “not progressed as expected.” And in March 2024 Bloomberg reported that all PvE content was being canceled due to its “poor” reception among the community, with Blizzard redoubling its efforts in PvP.

The game itself, in fact, is very far from the popularity it enjoyed a few years ago, and Blizzard’s various attempts to revive it do not seem to be working too well.
