A function has been known that clones the voice using artificial intelligence in order to answer calls automatically and avoid any real contact on it. This initiative, developed in collaboration with Microsoft and its Azure AI Speech technology, seeks an effective solution to the persistent problem of unwanted calls.

Currently, advertising calls and telephone spam have become a constant annoyance for millions of users around the world. Despite efforts by authorities and telecommunications companies to mitigate this problem, Existing solutions like block lists and caller ID apps have significant limitations.

The app has implemented a feature that allows users to create an artificial version of their own voice. This technology, based on Microsoft’s Azure AI Speech, uses algorithms to record and replicate the user’s voice accurately and naturally.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Microsoft on this exciting project and leverage their expertise in text-to-speech and artificial intelligence technologies. The seamless integration process and exceptional support provided by the Microsoft team have been instrumental in making this feature a reality,” said Raphael Mimoun, product director and general manager of Truecaller.

The process is simple: users of the premium version of the app can access this feature through their app, where they will have the option to record a short audio fragment that will serve as a basis for generating the artificial version of their voice.

When a user receives an incoming call that the app identifies as possible spam, the digital assistant will activate the user’s artificial voice to answer the call on their behalf. This digital assistant, powered by Microsoft technology, will display the reason for the incoming call on the screen and offer the user the option of letting the assistant answer for them or intervene personally.

The key to this technology lies in its ability to make the responses generated by artificial intelligence as close and personalized as possible to the voice and tone of the original user.

One of the crucial aspects of this innovation is security. Microsoft has implemented strict measures to protect user identity and prevent identity theft. Each artificial voice generated carries a unique watermark that identifies it as such, ensuring that the interactions made by the digital assistant are secure and verifiable.

Additionally, before being able to use this feature, users must explicitly agree to the terms and conditions governing the use of their voice to generate the artificial replica. And the technology company is committed to complying with all privacy and data protection regulations in force in each country where it operates, thus ensuring that the use of this technology is transparent and in accordance with best privacy practices.

Initially, the app’s artificial voice feature will be available to premium users of the app. The implementation is being carried out gradually in various countries, starting with key markets such as the United States, Canada, Australia, South Africa, India, Switzerland and Chile.

The company plans to expand this functionality to more regions as the technology is optimized and perfected to ensure an optimal experience for all users.
