ASUS has unveiled the 14-inch TUF Gaming A14 and 16-inch TUF Gaming A16 gaming laptops at Computex 2024 with a combination of AMD Ryzen AI processors and NVIDIA RTX 40 GPU. Aside from the larger screen of the TUF A16, both laptops share much of the hardware.

ASUS TUF Gaming A16 (FA608)

The ASUS TUF Gaming A16 features a new chassis with 17.9mm thickness and a 90% screen-to-body ratio. The chassis features a 10% larger touchpad and full-size arrow keys, both improvements over the current TUF Gaming A16 (Available on Amazon).

Completing the exterior of the ASUS TUF Gaming A16, we find:

  • Two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports
  • One USB 4 port with DisplayPort 2.1
  • A single USB 3.2 Type-C port with support for 100W Power Delivery
  • One RJ45 Ethernet socket
  • One HDMI 2.1 output
  • One 3.5mm combo jack

Inside, the new ASUS TUF Gaming A16 is powered by the latest AMD Ryzen AI processors based on the Zen 5 Architecture. ASUS is pairing the CPUs with up to an RTX 4070 GPU for laptops and LPDDR5X-7500 memory. A better cooling solution with 2nd generation Arc flow fans and a full-width heatsink are responsible for taming the internals. Lastly, the laptop contains a large 90 Wh battery.

Moving on to the display, the ASUS TUF Gaming A16 features a 16-inch panel with a 2.5K resolution, 400 nits of brightness, 3ms response time, and a 165Hz refresh rate. Additionally, ASUS claims that The panel covers 100% of the sRGB range.

ASUS TUF Gaming A14 (FA401)

Like the larger ASUS TUF Gaming A16, the smaller ASUS TUF Gaming A14 also brings the new Ryzen AI processors to the mix along with NVIDIA RTX 40 graphics and LPDDR5X-7500 memory. However, the ASUS TUF Gaming A14 has to make do with only a laptop-grade RTX 4060 GPU at the top end, a smaller 73Wh battery, and a total system TDP of 100W (110W in Turbo mode) versus the 160 W from its older brother.

The ASUS TUF Gaming A14 also features a new design with a thickness of 16.9 mm with the lid closed. The military-grade chassis houses a 14-inch display with slim bezels, an FHD webcam with Windows Hello support, a glass touchpad, and a keyboard with 1.7mm travel.

As for the screen, the ASUS TUF Gaming A14 matches its brother in everything except size. Thus, the IPS panel is 14 inches diagonally with a resolution of 2.5K, a refresh rate of 165 Hz, 400 nits of brightness and 3 ms response time. NVIDIA G-SYNC and Advanced Optimus also make an appearance.

Finally, the laptop has

  • A microSD card reader
  • Two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports,
  • A USB Type-C 4 along with a single USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port
  • One HDMI 2.1 and one audio jack

ASUS has not yet announced the availability or pricing of the TUF Gaming A14 and A16.
