The World Developers Conference will take place next week and, to bring Artificial Intelligence to iPhones with iOS, the version of the operating system that will be presented at said event, Apple is about to announce an official collaboration with OpenAI to bring AI on which the ChatGPT model is based on this new version of the apple software.

In anticipation of these announcements, the ChatGPT iPhone app has been updated, allowing you to have a conversation with the chatbot while multitasking in other apps. This enables a much more powerful and versatile experiencesimilar to what you might have on a desktop computer, while using your iPhone.

Background conversations

This new ChatGPT multitasking functionality is disabled by default, so you will have to activate it manually. Here we show you how to do it:

  1. Update your application from ChatGPT to the latest version.
  2. Open the app’s settings by tapping your name at the bottom of the sidebar.
  3. Scroll down and turn on the “Background conversations” option. And that’s it!

Talking with ChatGPT while using other apps on your iPhone Once you’ve enabled background conversations, you can start a voice conversation with ChatGPT and then exit the app to continue talking.
