The Japanese have proudly announced that their eighth chronological game has sold 10 million units since its launch in 2021.
While we all know that Capcom’s strategy is based on two clear lines, at least with Resident Evil, (one focused on remake classic games while another is dedicated to expand the central narrative with chronological games), the success of the new Japanese trilogy caught more than one person by surprise. With Resident Evil VII as the first stone of this golden age, Capcom is riding the wave of success while your zombies live their second youth.
Now, three years after the launch of Village, the eighth game in the saga and the second by Ethan Winters, the Japanese developer has praised the success of its team and shared that, indeed, that candidate for GOTY in 2021 has managed to win with 10 million copies; thus becoming the game in the saga that has achieved this figure the fastest. If we compare it with its prequel, by December 2023 Resident Evil 7 reached the top of 13 million copies sold worldwide.
Of course, nothing comes close to how well the remakes have performed for Capcom.
