Concern on different digital channels generated this Wednesday, June 12, a live broadcast from NASA indicating that a member of the International Space Station crew was experiencing effects related to decompression sickness (DCS).

Given the uncertainty and multiple comments generated by the audio, the US space agency clarified that said transmission was made from a simulation audio channel with which the crew carries out training.

“There is no emergency situation on board the International Space Station,” NASA clarified.

The entity explained that said transmission, made around 5:28 pm CDT, inadvertently deviated from the exercise that was in progress.

With these types of activities, “crew members and ground teams train for various scenarios in space and are not related to a real emergency,” the agency added.
