Black Myth Wukong will be released later on Xbox Series X|S, first debuting on PS5 and PC in August 2024
Many agree that Black Myth Wukong was the winner of Summer Game Fest 2024, not only because the Game Science RPG is the title most anticipated on Steam, but because the title aspires to be one of this year’s surprises. It was announced more than 4 years ago and many players received bad news several days ago. It turns out that the Xbox Series X|S version of Black Myth Wukong was delayed, so it will debut a few months later on the Microsoft console.
What we knew about this Microsoft console delay was that its creators were currently “optimizing the Xbox Series version to reach our quality standards, so we will not release it simultaneously to the rest of the platforms.” Therefore, Black Myth Wukong will debut next August 20 on PS5 and PCalthough it is expected that months later it will do so on Xbox consoles.
However, in the last few hours Jez Corden of Windows Central mentioned that he had heard “rumors” at the Xbox Showcase 2024 that PlayStation had signed some type of exclusivity agreement with Game Science to make Black Myth Wukong console exclusive on PS5. The journalist asked the Chinese developer and Microsoft about it, and only Redmond responded with a statement that fuels the theories and does not resolve any doubts about the real reason for the delay of Black Myth Wukong on Xbox Series X|S.

Although some players think that the real reason for this delay may be due to the Xbox Series S, something that already happened with Baldur’s Gate 3, Microsoft has hinted that there is agreements “with other platform owners” in the middle. “We’re excited to launch Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox Series X|S and are working with Game Science to bring the game to our platforms. We can’t comment on agreements reached by our partners with other platform ownersbut we remain focused on making Xbox the best platform for gamers, and great games are at the center of that.”
