Samsung is going to add the most anticipated function to its phones

It seems that Samsung has finally listened to its buyers. As we read in SamMobile, the South Korean company is thinking about implementing a function long awaited by users, which is basic and improves the general privacy of your data. What are we talking about? Of AppLocka feature that would come to One UI 7 and that would allow lock apps separately In a simple way.

It is not something new, far from it, since it has been available for years in other customization layers and in third-party applications. Now, Samsung would have realized that its software needs to implement it in native way. And, although we don’t know how it would work, it is possible that it will be very similar to the rest of the competing options.

And, although it is a very simple function, it can be implemented in various ways. The most normal thing is that Samsung allows the Lock any app using a password, PIN, pattern, face unlock and fingerprint. Of course, the safest and most interesting options are the last two, as they use biometric systems.

The leak comes after a screenshot of the future One UI 7 software, which will be the customization layer that will accompany Samsung phones with Android 15. In this image, a fragment of the settings is shown in which reference is made to ‘App Lock’, a name widely used to call this function and which, in fact, is the same name used by the most popular app on Google Play to block apps.

Block WhatsApp or Instagram on your Samsung

What is this function for? Very simple, it is designed so that you can block apps individually. That is, it allows every time you enter WhatsApp, Instagram or any game, the device will ask for password or fingerprint.

It’s a good way to improve your privacy in certain applications, especially if someone usually has access to your device and you don’t want them to go into certain places. The feature generally doesn’t discriminate, so you can lock a game, the gallery, the settings app, WhatsApp, YouTube, or anything you have installed on your Samsung.

Available only to a few

Now, the controversy is served, since Samsung would be launching App Lock with One UI 7, so only a certain part of its catalog could take advantage of the function. It is something extremely simple that any mobile phone can use, even the cheapest and oldest ones, but the company is dedicating it only to future releases and the terminals that update.

The good news is that if your Samsung does not update to One UI 7 you will be able to have the function. You simply have to download AppLock from the Google Play Store and configure it in a very simple way. In fact, even if you have a current Samsung, you don’t have to wait for the next update: You can try blocking individual applications now.
