Advance in Chile: Nexxt Home revealed its Mesh system with Wi-Fi 6 technology

  • The manufacturer of connectivity and home automation solutions reported that it is working on the next launch of its new Wi-Fi Mesh system. For Nexxt, it is imperative to evolve to Wi-Fi 6 technology due to the benefits that the new standard offers over its predecessor Wi-Fi 5.
  • Erika Merlo, Territory Manager for the Southern Cone of Nexxt Solutions Home, explained the advantages of this new wireless technology, including faster connections, greater range and lower energy consumption.

Santiago, June 24, 2024. Nexxt Solutions Home revealed its Wi-Fi 6 technology in Chile and presented the highlights of this new technology and explained the main reasons why home networks must evolve towards the new generation of wireless technology and take advantage of the benefits of its innovations.

“According to data from Statista, the number of existing smart homes worldwide has shown constant growth between 2017 and until 2023, reaching over 300 million in that last year. Likewise, it foresees that this trend will also continue during the next five years, to the point that this figure could double by 2028. Currently, with the rise of the Internet of Things (IoT, for its acronym in English) “Homes have a growing number of devices connected to the Internet simultaneously, such as notebooks and smartphones, but also TVs and even household appliances and different sensors, among others, which negatively impacts the efficiency of the Wi-Fi network.” Erika analyzed Merlo, Territory Manager for the Southern Cone of Nexxt Solutions Home. And he stated: In that sense, Wi-Fi 6 is a highly efficient wireless communication protocol designed specifically to better manage smart home networks.

Erika Merlo details the main reasons why home users should adopt this new technology:

Speed: The main reason to get Wi-Fi 6 is data transfer speed. Under ideal conditions, a Wi-Fi 6 network has a theoretical maximum bandwidth of 9.6 Gbps. while Wi-Fi 5 only supports up to 6.9 Gbps. But that’s not all: another of the wide range of technological innovations introduced by the new protocol is that it uses a higher order modulation scheme with 1024-QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation), which represents 1 symbol with up to 10 bits, compared to Wi-Fi 5’s 256-QAM, which represents 1 symbol with 8 bits. The result is that with more bits carried per symbol, the data rate increases by up to 25%.

Features: It’s not just about a faster Wi-Fi connection, Wi-Fi 6 also adds features to make our increasingly online lives a little easier. Many of these features require Wi-Fi 6-enabled devices to take full advantage of the improvements, meaning the new protocol will become more useful as new compatible devices are released.

Coverage: Unlike Wi-Fi 5, which uses only the faster 5.0 GHz frequency, Wi-Fi 6 also uses the 2.4 GHz frequency range, which does not transmit as much information as 5.0 GHz signals, but has a longer range and can more easily pass through small obstacles. Furthermore, the technologies used to achieve high speeds in Wi-Fi 6 also improve speeds in the 2.4 GHz frequency band, providing a Wi-Fi network with better range and faster speeds than any previous version.

Efficiency: Without a doubt, network capacity is the biggest difference between Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6. Wi-Fi 6 is designed to avoid network congestion situations as it can manage dozens of connected devices simultaneously, as supports more frequency bands, expanded multi-user support, better multiplexing and other technologies, such as BSS coloring (a tool that encodes traffic by reducing interference from nearby channels) to provide better performance in dense networks, such as office buildings, public spaces and smart homes.

Latency: Latency is key in Wi-Fi connections. The average latency of Wi-Fi 6 is 20 ms, which is 10 ms less than Wi-Fi 5, so efficiency is greatly improved.

Security: The importance of having a secure router is that it represents one of the best ways to prevent other people from clandestinely connecting to the home Wi-Fi network or, worse yet, stealing user information. Many Wi-Fi enabled routers and devices support the WPA3 security protocol, which adds new layers of protection to the network, and is a necessary condition for a device to be Wi-Fi 6 certified. In conclusion, Wi-Fi routers 6 are the safest options available.

Energy consumption: While Wi-Fi 5 works in a mode in which when the terminal device is transmitting data with the router, other devices are waiting to receive data out of order, Wi-Fi 6 introduces the new TWT (Target Wake Time) technology, thanks to which other devices go into sleep mode until they receive new data. which reduces power consumption and increases the battery life of your devices.

“Without a doubt, the ability to manage network congestion is the main objective of the Wi-Fi 6 standard, in line with the trend of smart homes, which not only have computers and mobile devices connected to their network, but also household appliances. and sensors. While certain devices, such as smart light bulbs, use only a small amount of data to operate, wireless routers can struggle to manage a large number of devices at the same time, even with higher bandwidth connections. Instead, Wi-Fi 6 adds multiplexing and network management features that allow the router to perform multiple tasks on managed networks,” highlighted the Territory Manager for the Southern Cone of Nexxt Solutions Home and concluded: “By supporting dual bands of 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz, Wi-FI offers higher bandwidth, higher access rate and lower interference, making it the most suitable technology for transmitting 4K videos, 8K or VR. Likewise, its higher efficiency and low latency make it better suited to the requirements of online gaming.”

Some highlights of Next Home’s new Wi-Fi 6-powered Mesh

Nexxt Home’s new product with True Mesh Router technology is designed for a reliable wireless Internet experience at all times, providing coverage anywhere in the house without connection. In addition, thanks to its compatibility with OFDMA and MU-MIMO, it allows you to simultaneously connect up to 150 wireless devices, 4K streamers and video game consoles.
