I’m going to be honest with you, yeah Elden Ring It is a difficult game, its DLC was not going to be left behind either. The final boss of Shadow of the Erdtree He’s the most powerful version of Radahn, and if you’re having trouble taking him down, that’s normal! It is an extremely tough fight, perhaps I would say that tougher than Malenia herselfand if you are having problems, I bring you some tips so you can finish it victorious.

How to defeat Radahn, Miquella’s consort

Before starting to review Radahn’s movements and its phases, let’s go with some considerations that can make your life much easier:

Equipment Suggestions

  • There are two must-have talismans: the Golden Braid—one of the best talismans in Shadow of the Erdtree—and the Dragon-Bolded Largeshield Talisman. These mitigate the sacred and physical damage that you are going to suffer, and believe me that even then it will not be little.
  • On the other hand, I also opted for the Favor of the Golden Tree +2 and Crimson Seed Talisman +1 in order to increase my survival.
  • At the armor level, use what gives you the most protection, but that allows you to continue at a medium load.

Strategic suggestions

  • I know it sounds counterproductive, but I am going to recommend that do not invoke. The summoning signal for NPCs—in this case Thiollier and Ansbach—is outside the combat area. What does this mean? That summon increases boss health. In a fight that can leave you without healing relatively quickly, dragging it out too long is not worth it.
  • This doesn’t mean you should forego your ashes for summoning. While I do tend to recommend alternating between Tiche and the Mimetic Tear, in this case we are going to discard the black knife. Tiche simply can’t hold his own against Radahn’s blows.
  • If you use the Mimetic Tear, carries a Blessing from Márika in your inventory. Not only can it be crucial to ending the fight if you run out of vials, but the Tear also has a chance to be used and restore full health.
  • Bleeding or freezing can help you defeat this enemy.

With all this in mind (which is no small thing), let’s review Radahn’s attacks.

Radahn, Miquella’s consort, phase 1 strategy

The first phase of this combat is relatively easy to read and execute. Let’s review Radahn’s attacks:

  • gravitational jump: Radahn accumulates energy and jumps towards you, spinning in the air. It is a very attack easy to dodgegives a single blow, and that leaves you in a good position to hit it.
  • Leap of Artorias: If you see that Radahn does not charge his gravitational force, but somersaults towards you, you have two options: punish immediately after dodging or dodging a second hit. Sometimes, after finishing his first jump, Radahn makes the same attack. He waits a couple of seconds after dodging the first jump to know if you can hit him, or if you should dodge again. Never makes a third.
  • Cross attack: Combo of three blows, one with the left hand, another with the right, and a last one with both. Easy to avoid and, after the last one, you can punish.
  • Mohg skewered: Radahn stabs his sword forward and then follows with a horizontal slash and an explosion. Can get behind him dodging to the sides to punish.
  • Gravitational load: The boss crouches to charge up energy, pulls you towards him, and then does a physical attack that also has a gravitational shockwave. Yeah dodge the energy charge forwardyou will avoid being attracted, cancel the technique and be able to punish. If you manage to be attracted, immediately run outwards, dodge the physical blow and continue running to escape the shockwave.
  • Combos: Radahn has a wide variety of combos that you have to be careful with. Especially watch out for the combo that then has a second and third two-handed hit in the same direction, and those that end vertically. If Radahn sticks his sword into the ground, he will make a seismic attack which you must avoid by jumping or rolling.
  • On the other hand, combos that end with vertical attacks can have another vertical attackso you must wait to confirm that Radahn is finished to punish.
  • Stomp: Nothing new, when Radahn stomps on the ground, dodge or jump.
  • Meteor launch: When you see the boss charging his swords with gravity magic, get away because he’s going to try to hit you. After that, he’ll rise up and conjure meteorites that he’ll throw in your direction. Just run left and roll, you will be able to avoid them easily. Don’t try to punish, it’s not worth it.
  • Vertical launch: Radahn makes a vertical slash from bottom to top that, if hit, will launch you for a combo. He dodges the first hit, and then the second (vertical down). Now you can punish.

Radahn, Miquella’s consort, phase 2 strategy

Before starting to see the movements of this second phase, I am going to give you some general advice. In this phase, try not to dodge backwards if you are close to the boss, but to the sides. That’s because most of his attacks come accompanied by pillars of holy damage that will not only hurt you, but can leave you short for the next attack.

  • golden explosion: Almost certainly, the second phase will start with this attack. You have two options: run to the edge of the area as fast as you can or carry a dagger with you. War Ash Mist Raptor, which will allow you to dodge the attack if you use it at the right time. This will also allow you to deeply punish Radahn.
  • Miquella’s grip: The best thing that can happen to you in this phase. This grip is super predictable, very easy to avoid and has a large punish window. If it hits you, it won’t hurt you, but it will put a mark on you. If you get grabbed again, you will die unless you used Miquella’s Great Rune. If it grabs your Mimic Tear, you will have a break to heal and punish the grab.
  • Golden Slash: Radahn charges his weapon to make a huge blow. Dodge the golden energy and punishes.
  • rain of swords: This movement starts with Meteor launchbut then it follows with tons of Radahn clones quickly falling to hit you. Run to the right and then dodge the golden explosion.
  • clone loading: If your enemy starts to glow and gets in position to attack, dodge to the side very carefully. The clone charge can hurt you so much that you run the risk of die in one blow. Don’t try to punish him.
  • golden cross: Radahn puts his swords in the shape of a cross and charges them with energy. This means that there is a long chain of blows coming up to dodge. This will end with a sixth strike with a jump that will also have a golden explosion around it. Dodge it and punish.

With some practice and the right measurements, you can defeat Radahn and, with this, finish the story bosses of Shadow of the Erdtree. How many tries did it take you?
