Motorola and Google Cloud launch razr series with generative AI

Motorola and Google Cloud announced a strategic collaboration to bring generative artificial intelligence to Motorola phones, starting with the new razr series of smartphones, including the razr+/motorola razr 50 ultra. Powered by Moto AI technology developed with Google Cloud Vertex AI and Gemini, the initiative redefines the user experience by offering advanced features such as the ability to complete tasks, receive contextual suggestions and reminders, and summarize relevant information.

According to Dan Dery, vice president of AI, Ecosystem and Internet Services at Motorola, Moto AI transforms the smartphone experience by becoming aware of personal and collaborative context across the device and its ecosystem. This integration not only promises to improve efficiency in everyday use, but also empower user creativity through features like Magic Canvas, which turns descriptions into personalized images for messaging and social media, and Style Sync, which adapts the phone’s look to personal styles.

This collaboration has resulted in devices that learn and evolve with the user, offering additional functionality such as conversation transcription and summarization, and the ability to recall relevant information for instant recall. Umesh Vemuri, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Google Cloud, highlighted that the new razr series not only leverages the power of Google’s AI models in innovative ways, but also raises the bar for how smartphones can improve the daily lives of users globally.

For his part, Umesh Vemuri, vice president of Strategic Initiatives at Google Cloud, said that Motorola has a long history of creating innovative devices that make people’s lives easier and more fun. “The latest line of razr smartphones applies the power of Google’s AI models in creative and practical ways, raising the bar for how smartphones can act as useful companions for users around the world.”

The new Razr phones are now available in select countries in Latin America and Europe, and are expected to be available for “pre-order” in North America, India, and certain Asia Pacific countries in the coming weeks.
