5 features I’d like to see in an AI laptop

From a work perspective, perhaps the term I have mentioned the most in the last few months has been artificial intelligence. I read and hear about it here and there, and although I have asked ChatGPT for some things —almost always more for experimental purposes than for work purposes— and I even learned how to use Discord to ask MidJourney for images. And although right now I feel that artificial intelligence is more useful on my cell phone, improving the bad photos I usually take, I hope that soon platforms like Office or computer manufacturers themselves start implementing functions that I am sure are possible. I thought of these 5 things that I would like to see in a laptop with Artificial Intelligence.

An Excel that makes me a good payment plan

It’s not tied to a laptop, but I’m definitely the guy who uses Excel on my computer and very rarely on my cell phone. I’m far from being an expert, but I have sheets with my monthly budget and of course, one where I project how much I can spend to get out of debt as soon as possible. Obviously the account is poorly done, because every month I am still six months away from paying it off (like the Adam Driver meme).

What if there was some magic function in Excel or Sheets (I actually use Sheets, thanks, Google) that understood that I was trying to pay off my debt as quickly as possible and, with data like the monthly interest rate and my ability to pay, could make a plan that didn’t feel like a joke? Is it really that complicated?

Well, I think it would be very useful to many people.

I should tune my computer to make it last longer.

I’ve been a technology reporter for many years, and it wasn’t until recently that I learned that the best way to take care of the battery on my laptop, which I basically use as a desktop computer, was to unplug it or simply adjust the battery so that it doesn’t charge. will exceed 60 or 80 percent.

If artificial intelligence is based on analyzing patterns, why not identify when I use my laptop to automatically adjust the maximum battery charge level to increase its durability? I had to manually adjust the charge limit to 60 percent, isn’t that something the AI could do?

Tell me which hardware is compatible

One of the most common questions asked to Google by people looking to upgrade their computer hardware is “what RAM is compatible with my laptop.” The same goes for other types of components, such as the solid state drive or a hard drive.

Well, what if we could ask the computer this same question and, in addition to the answer, it would send us an Amazon link to make the purchase?

A better selection of articles on the web

It is not a feature that can exist exclusively on a laptop, as in fact Google does it fantastically on cell phones in the Discovery section.

Right now, when I open Copilot on my laptop, I see a bunch of suggestions that do little to help me, like “What are some funny quotes that will brighten my day?” and instead I get “Here are 5 articles we think will be useful for your work,” or “Here are the spec sheets for the new Galaxy S24 FE.”

Enhance 34 to 36

Blade Runner Enhance Scene

I don’t usually edit video, but many of my coworkers do. Not long ago, during a demonstration of NPUs integrated into AMD chipsets, I saw a demonstration in which a low-resolution video was rescaled using artificial intelligence, very much in the style of the legendary scene enhance 34 to 36.

Could we have these features in video editors?
