The simplicity of WhatsApp has been one of its main virtues. Not making its interface too complex, not adding too many options and not radically changing the design have meant that millions of people continue to use it in Spain for years. Of course, little by little we are seeing new functions, such as the possibility of creating events, but problems also appear.

Normally problems with WhatsApp are resolved by restarting the application or, at most, the terminal itself. Sometimes it is necessary to clear the application cache, or switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data or vice versa, in case there are network failures, but other times the problems are more important.

One of the most striking is the one that prevents sending any type of video or GIF to any chat. At first you might think that it is a fault with a file in question, that perhaps it is too large or that it has an incompatible codec, since the application itself displays a window with the text “This video cannot be sent. Please choose a different one and try again.”.

But the failure is not due to a specific video, although the message may imply that. In fact, if you try to send another one, or a GIF, you won’t be able to either. Sometimes you can send a video, but it only shows the audio, with the image black. And it is something that is replicated with all chats, both individual and group.

The solution is to uninstall WhatsApp. It’s a somewhat radical action, but it’s the only way to ensure that this fault is corrected. Obviously, by doing this all the information will be lost, so It is necessary to make a backup firstwhich will be restored when the application is installed again.

To make the backup you have to open the application, go to the Settings and select the section Chats. Within that section you have to click on Backup and in the window that appears select the option Keep. After a few minutes the backup will be complete. When WhatsApp is reinstalled it will ask if we want to recover the backup, and we will have to say yes, so that all the conversations, photos and videos are where they were before uninstalling the program.
