When will local Dollar Trees start selling $7 items?

A customer exits a Dollar Tree store holding a shopping bag on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, in Jackson, Miss. Dollar Tree says it plans to close nearly 1,000 stores and moved to a surprise loss in its fiscal fourth quarter as the discount retailer took a $1.07 billion goodwill impairment charge. Shares dropped more than 7% before the market open on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.

Prices are going up at Dollar Tree.

In March, the retail giant announced it was gearing up to offer a number of items that cost up to $7. So, when will these new items hit shelves?

The company hasn’t released a timeline just yet, but Dollar Tree CEO Nick Dreiling said that the company is “accelerating” the rollout of additional price tiers in its fourth quarter report.

USA Today has some predictions on when customers will see the new items based on the last Dollar Tree Price hike. In 2021, the company announced that it would expand its “Dollar Tree Plus” concept that includes merchandise at the $3 and $5 price points.

According to USA Today, the company said when the concept was announced it planned to have 500 Dollar Tree Plus stores by the end of 2021, with another 1,500 in 2022 and at least 5,000 by the end of 2024.

The first time Dollar Tree raised its price threshold was in 2019, when the company introduced items priced at $1.25. The new price became standard in 2021.
