Upper Darby Deputy Fire Chief Bill Norris said a fire alarm was received for an apartment fire at Bishop Hill Apartments building H at 11 pm A minute later a caller confirmed the fire and reported that people were trapped.

Police arrived and began evacuating residents from the first two floors of the 12-unit building as firefighters went to the top floor and found smoke and a kitchen fire.
