Harambee Stars prospect Silko Amari Otieno Thomas grabbed himself an assist as Leicester City beat West Ham United 3-1 in a PL2 clash on Friday afternoon

Otieno, who played as a left winger, provided an assist with his first touch of the ball when he received the ball down the left flank before whipping in an inswinger towards Chris Popov, who headed it home to give them the lead less than two minutes played.

Otieno has been in good form for Leicester when fit. The former Chelsea star has scored five league goals and made four assists in 16 PL2 appearances this season.

Leicester City’s dominance was further highlighted by goals from Sammy Braybrooke and Will Alves within the first 33 minutes of the match, as they ran riot in east London.

Although West Ham’s Kamarai Swyer managed to pull one back, overturning three Leicester City goals in the first half proved to be an insurmountable task for the U21s.

Despite West Ham creating chances in the first half, including efforts from Lewis Orford and Callum Marshall, Leicester’s strong start ensured their control of the game.’

The former Tottenham youth graduate signed a new contract at Leyton Orient after a recent rise to prominence at the club.

The young U21s, featuring three U18s in the starting lineup, continued to press in the second half, with Swyer heading home a corner to give West Ham a glimmer of hope.

However, Leicester City’s defense held firm, with goalkeeper Brad Young making crucial saves to deny West Ham’s attempts at a comeback. Emeka Adiele, Patrick Kelly, and Josh Ajala all came close to reducing the deficit, but Leicester’s resilience ensured they secured their fourth consecutive PL2 win.

The victory reaffirms Leicester City U21s’ position as a force to be reckoned with in youth football, while Otieno’s standout performance further solidifies his status as a promising talent with a bright future ahead.
