Coimbatore: Unidentified people recently broke into a house at Sivaram Nagar at Ramanathapuram in the city and made away with gold ornaments weighing 40 sovereigns.The Ramanathapuram investigation wing police said the incident took place when the occupant of the house – P Anuradha, 52 – was away in Darjeeling with her husband S Manmadan, chief engineer with the Irrigation Management Training Institute in Trichy.According to a police officer, Anuradha locked the house around 7pm on April 23 and left for Trichy, from where she went to Darjeeling along with her husband the very next day. “On April 26, Ella Suseela’s maid called her up and told her that the front door lock of her house was found broken open. Anuradha immediately contacted her younger brother P Viswakumar, who rushed to the house and confirmed the break-in.”Anuradha subsequently reached the house on April 28 and lodged a complaint with the Ramanathapuram investigation wing police stating that gold ornaments weighing 40 sovereigns and Rs23, 000 were stolen from the house. The Ramanathapuram investigation wing police have registered a case under sections 380 and 457 of the Indian Penal Code and formed two special teams to nab the burglars.
