The Dana Gas company of the United Arab Emirates suspended its operations on Monday in the Kormor field, located in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.after a drone attack on the facility, which left four workers dead and eight injured.
Through a statement, the company reported having suffered minor damage, decided to temporarily close production and implemented specific operational changes to ensure the safety of all employees.
The drone hit the oil materials warehouses located between the cities of Kirkuk and Sulaymaniyah.
The Emirati company announced collaboration with government authorities to reinforce security and defense measures and allow the resumption of the processor’s work.
In recent years, the Kormor site has been the target of several attacksfor which no group claimed responsibility, but this is the first time that a bombing has resulted in fatalities.
In turn, the spokesman for the Kurdistan regional government, Beshwa Huramani, confirmed among the victims four Yemeni workers.
Iraqi security forces signed a committee to investigate the attack and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
