The president of United States Joe Bidenmaintains a slight advantage over Donald Trump facing the November presidential electionwhile the Republican candidate is immersed in a state trial in which he is accused of falsifying business records, according to a poll by Reuters/Ipsos closed this Tuesday.

Around the 40% of the 856 voters registered in the two-day survey said they would vote for BidenDemocrat, if the elections were held today, in front of the 39% who chose former President Trump. That one-point lead was smaller than Biden’s 4-point lead in a Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted April 4-8.

The poll has a margin of error of about three percentage points among registered voters, and many of them still undecided six months before the November 5 elections.

Authoritarians don’t like this

The practice of professional and critical journalism is a fundamental pillar of democracy. That is why it bothers those who believe they are the owners of the truth.

Meme war: Donald Trump’s trolling of Biden

Around the 28 percent of registered voters in the survey said they had not chosen a candidatewho were leaning towards third options or who would not vote at all.

8 percent of those surveyed would vote for Robert Kennedy Jr.., an anti-vaccine activist running as an independent, if he were on the ballot alongside Trump and Biden.

Both candidates carry significant responsibilities in what is expected to be a close race and the first rematch of the US presidential election in almost 70 years.

Donald Trump vs Joe Biden.

Trump vs Biden, hand in hand

Trump spent much of April in a Manhattan courtroom in what is the first of four criminal trials pending against him.

The trial in Manhattan involves allegations that Trump covered up a payment to a porn actress ahead of the 2016 presidential election in exchange for her silence about an alleged sexual encounter she had with Trump.

A previous survey of Reuters/Ipsos also revealed that a firm majority of Americans believed that accusations were serious. Trump has pleaded not guilty to the charges and denies any encounter.

In campaign mode, Biden took aim at Trump in his speech to Congress

The other lawsuits refer to accusations that the former president tried to overturn his 2020 electoral defeat or mishandling sensitive documents after leaving the presidency in 2021.

Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

On the other hand, there is the concern about Biden’s age who is currently 81 years old, as well as strong criticism from part of his Democratic party for his support for Israel’s war against Hamas militants.
