The spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Chen Binhua, reiterated the Asian nation’s approach to the island’s participation in World Health Organization activities and insisted on the “one China” principle. as a fundamental basis, as established by international resolutions.
“Taiwan’s participation in the World Health Assembly is feasible, but the authorities of the Democratic Progressive Party, with the intention of seeking independence, deliberately politicize the health issue” with the help of external forces, he stressed.
The Secretary of State of the United States, Antony Blinken, expressed the North American country’s strong support for the invitation of that island region as an observer at this year’s World Health Assembly.
Beijing accused Washington of saying one thing and doing another and urged it not to accept separatist activities.
China recently accused Washington of exaggerating the supposed military threat and fueling the war atmosphere across the strait to interfere in the internal affairs of the Asian giant.
“If the US government really wants to maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, it should stop stirring up the waters and take concrete measures to comply with the one-China principle,” the spokesperson stressed.
