The Ministry of Culture, Linguistic Policy and Sports has reopened the El Pindal cave, in Ribadedeva, after its closure last March due to the presence of radon gas in it. However, the reopening is accompanied by new measures for visitors, as reported by the aforementioned Ministry, necessary to guarantee the health and safety of the workers of this natural wonder declared World Heritage by UNESCO.
So from now on there will only be three daily passes with a maximum of 10 people in each of them. Visiting days are also shortened, which will be from Wednesday to Sunday, in addition to stipulating that it is essential to reserve your ticket in advance by calling 608 175 284 from Wednesday to Sunday and from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additionally and as part of these measures, the new visitor reception center will be located next to the interpretation center building, in the vicinity of the car park.
Radon gas is a radioactive and natural gas released by the earth. It usually occurs in underground cavities and tends to concentrate, making it dangerous for humans with prolonged exposure.
