A highrise that was already the scene of a suspicious fire on Thursday was the site of a late night Friday blaze.

Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) says they received a number of 911 calls saying there was a fire in one of the units at 1244 Donald Street.

They say the fire was in a bedroom on the sixth floor and was quickly brought under control. One person suffered minor injuries and was treated on scene by paramedics.

On Thursday, three people — one adult and two children — were rescued from a third floor apartment in the same building and brought to hospital in critical condition.

Six other people were treated on scene and five more were transported to hospital with minor injuries including smoke inhalation. The Ottawa Police Arson Unit deemed the fire suspicious and are investigating.

OFS says that the Canadian Red Cross and the Salvation Army are assisting those affected by the latest incident.

An Ottawa Fire Investigator was dispatched to the scene to determine the origin and cause.
