Dehradun: Nayan Shree, a 24-year-old MA final year student at IMS Unison University in Dehradun, the only survivor of the accident that claimed the lives of three of her batchmates, a senior, and another from DIT University on Saturday morning, is battling for life at the Government Doon Medical College and Hospital. Dr Anurag Agarwal, the medical superintendent at the hospital, said Nayan Shree suffered skull injuries, spinal damage, fractures in her legs and torso, and severe facial wounds. One of the friends of a deceased student, expressed disbelief and sadness echoed through the families. “It is unclear about what went wrong. Everyone, including the police, has a different theory about how the accident may have happened. It is a shock for all of us,” he said. Officials of both the universities said they are offering necessary support to the bereaved families. Dr Naveen Singhal, the proctor at DIT, told TOI: “The father of Hardiyansh, our student who passed away in the tragedy, is coming from Jhansi. He will reach after midnight, and we will stay with him every step of the way through this order.”Nayan Shree’s family, who rushed from Meerut to the hospital, could not comment amidst the distress. “We learned about the accident around 10am when police informed us. We are cooperating with the investigation and are providing all necessary support to the families as well,” said Pranav Kumar, registrar at IMS Unison, adding that “The loss of young lives in this manner is extremely devastating.”
