Prayagraj: Police arrested three miscreants after a brief encounter on Friday night in Tharwai area of Gangapar. Two of them, Ajay Patel and Dilip Patel, were shot in their legs. Both are named accused in the Lalmani murder case while the third was identified as Vikas. A pistol and the car used in kidnapping have been recovered from their possession.According to police, Tharwai police was patrolling in view of elections and during a checking exercise, occupants of one car abandoned the vehicle and started running away from the police. As the police personnel chased them, the miscreants started firing. In retaliatory firing by police, two miscreants were shot in the leg while the third was caught after a chase. During interrogation, it came to light that Ajay Patel alias Saxena and Dilip Patel were the named accused in the recent Lalmani murder case and police were in search of both. Vikas’s name had also come up in the investigation in the case. Police have already sent four others accused to jail. A week back, Lalmani Patel, 32, resident of Tikri, Ismailganj village of Tharwai, had gone to Garapur, Sakra village as part of a wedding procession. After there was a dispute in the marriage procession, Ajay Patel and Dilip had allegedly kidnapped Lalmani from his car. On the complaint of Lalmani’s wife, police registered a case of kidnapping against Ajay Patel alias Saxena and Dilip Patel and started investigating the case. On Sunday, Lalmani’s body was found buried in the sand on the banks of Nagarwar Yamuna Ghat in Lalapur.
