Led by a championship in No. 1 doubles from Jesse Hattrup and Jade Dynamic, the Edwardsville boys tennis team finished third in the 16-team NaperValley Invitational in suburban Chicago.

The Tigers scored 52 points.

Oak Park River Forest won with 67 points and Metea Valley was second with 54 points.

Along with Hattrup and Dynamic’s championship, EHS picked up a third-place finish from Colton Hulme at No. 1 singles.

Seeded No. 1 in the No. 1 doubles flight, Hattrup and Dynamic opened with a pair of 6-0, 6-0 victories before a 6-2, 6-0 semifinal win over Loyola’s Sam Cho and Rohan Bansal.

In the championship match, Hattrup and Dynamic won 6-0, 6-4 over Oak Park River Forest’s Eli Stein and Alex Delipschi.

In No. 1 singles, the fourth-seeded Hulme advanced to the semifinals with wins of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 3-0 (retire) before falling 6-4, 6-2 to top-seeded Akshay Baid of Metea Valley. Baid went on to finish second in the tournament.

Hulme rebounded with a 7-5, 5-7, 6-1 win over Waubonsie Valley’s Revanth Kothapalli in the third-place match.

At No. 2 singles, Edwardsville’s Brandon Wong went 2-2. He bowed out in the third round of the consolation bracket.

In No. 2 doubles, Edwardsville’s Isaac Chleboun and Schaefer Bates went 3-2 and advanced to the fourth round of the consolation bracket. They lost 7-5, 6-4 in the final round of the consolation bracket.

In No. 3 doubles, Edwardsville’s John Almos and Milo Kathriner went 4-1 and won the consolation bracket. After losing in the first round, the EHS pair won four straight, including 6-4, 1-6, 10-6 in the final round of the consolation bracket.

The Tigers will look to carry over the momentum into the final week of the regular season.

EHS will host Belleville West at 3:30 pm Tuesday before playing in the Southwestern Conference Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
