Two fires were reported on Monday and early Tuesday in Roanoke County and Roanoke, respectively.

A home was damaged by fire early Tuesday morning on Stewart Avenue Southeast in Roanoke.

Units responded around 5 am, to the reported fire in the 1300 block of

Stewart. First arriving units found light smoke that appeared to be coming from the space between the basement ceiling and the first floor of the structure. Upon investigation, a fire was found within an exterior wall, according to city fire department news release. The fire was quickly extinguished.

There were no injuries reported to Fire-EMS personnel or civilians. The occupants of the home were displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross. An investigation determined that the cause of the fire was electrical and deemed it accidental, and the estimated damages to the structure and its contents are $9,000, according to the release.

Roanoke County Fire and Rescue responded at 6:04 pm on

Monday to the 5700 block of Scenic Hills Drive, in the Cave Spring area of ​​Roanoke County, for the report of a residential structure fire. Responding units from Station 3 (Cave Spring) could see heavy smoke while responding and marked it a working fire, according to a county fire department news release.

First arriving crews from Station 3 found heavy fire and smoke coming from the attached garage of a two-story brick home.

There were four people at home at the time of the fire and all escaped safely. The occupants of the home will not be displaced for any extended period as fire crews made a successful stop on the garage fire and kept it from extending into the house. The fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes, according to the release.

Crews were able to use a nearby creek and a swimming pool as water sources. There were no injuries.
