HANOVER, NH – The Big Green got out to a 3-0 lead and despite falling behind, stayed in the game, scoring 13 runs over the final four innings to defeat the Maine Black Bears 18-11 in the season finale.

With the win, the Big Green close the regular season at 13-26 overall.

Dartmouth wasted no time getting on the board as it opened a 2-0 lead thanks to Nathan Cmeyla’s seventh home run of the season. The Big Green added another run in the inning when Ethan Brown collected his first RBI of the day, scoring Jackson Hower on a single up the middle.

Maine powered back in the second inning, scoring five runs on three home runs, including a three-run shot to right field. The Black Bears added a sixth run in the third inning on a single to lead 6-3.

While the Big Green were held off the board in both the second and third innings, they came within one run in the fourth when Elliot Krewson singled to make it a 6-4 game. Another Maine home run in the fifth re-extended the Black Bear’s lead to three but Dartmouth got another run of their own when Luke Carroll doubled to score Brown.

Dartmouth’s offense came to life in the sixth inning, plating five runs to take a 10-7 lead. Cmeyla collected his third RBI of the day with a double, followed by a two-run double by Hower. Brown continued his impact at the plate with an RBI single followed by another hit by Tyler Robinson with the bases loaded.

The Black Bears would not give up without a fight though, scoring two runs to come within one in the seventh inning.

Three runs for the Big Green in their half of the seventh though built a four-run lead for the Big Green. Cmeyla knocked another double, Max Zajec grounded out, and Robinson walked with the bases loaded to put three more runs on the board.

A sacrifice bunt and an error scored two runs for Maine in the eighth inning, but the Big Green once again responded, this time highlighted by a grand slam by Brown to put Dartmouth up 17-11. The Big Green continued to get on base for Robinson who hit a sacrifice fly to score one more run, giving Dartmouth the 18-11 victory.

Nate Isler started the game, giving up only one run in his one inning of work. Jack Metzger, Danny Will, Eddie Albert, Brady Chappelland Drew Koenen finished the game, with Albert and Koenen having the biggest impact.

Albert earned the win, giving up three runs, only one earned, on three hits in three innings pitched. Koenen collected the save, coming in to pitch the final two innings and putting up a hitless and scoreless appearance.

With the win, the Big Green close their season on a high note and will turn their focus to preparing for the 2025 season.
