Given the homicide, the governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado, strongly condemned the murder of the candidate and asked the state Prosecutor’s Office to clarify the case.
“To clarify this cowardly crime and guarantee no impunity, I have asked the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Guerrero to carry out the pertinent investigations to apply the full weight of the law to him or those responsible for this crime. For its part, the Attorney General of the state of Guerrero (FGE) reported that it has initiated an investigation file against whoever is responsible for the crime of qualified homicide against the candidate.
“Agents from the Ministerial Investigative Police and the Expert Services, who carry out the corresponding investigative acts that allow obtaining the necessary evidence to clarify the crime,” mentioned the local Public Ministry, who confirmed that the alleged aggressor was killed at the scene.
For his part, the PRIwho described the homicide as a ““devious crime”, demanded a thorough investigation. Meanwhile, the State Steering Committee of the tricolor accused a lack of capacity on the part of the authorities.
“Today once again violence took the life of one of our colleagues, our friend and candidate for the presidency of Coyuca de Benítez was shot to death at his campaign closing event; “This is the result of the inability of the corresponding authorities to provide security,” the Committee noted.
For his part, the national leader of the PRD, Jesús Zambrano, also condemned the murder of the candidate.
“More than 50% of Guerrero’s territory is threatened by organized crime, the situation in the state is alarming. We demand the immediate intervention of the authorities to end this climate of violence that is being faced in the state and throughout the country. We ask for an expeditious investigation of this unfortunate event and for justice to be done.
